The Dry Lake Racer has been an on going project, from a trusty Vespa PX200 I bought new in 2000. It originally started out as a high tech commuter (see blog The first gadget I hooked up however was a GPS, which showed some unusually low readings for speed. With a bit of testing I found the speedo reading of my Vespa (and all Vespa's) was high by 10Km/hr! This was confirmed with a number of different GPS's, different Vespa's and tyre speed devices. This lead me to a pursuit of higher top speed and with the help of Jeremy Scott we have decided to turn it into a scooter to take an Australia Dry Lake Speed Record...
